There’s just not one title that would be right…..

014

This statue was made by my mother-in-law, and this picture was used on the card we sent to tell her friends and familiy she had died. After a very short period, we had to say goodbye to her last week.

Sculpting was not the only craft she practised. She was really a very creative person, and her house (and the houses of her family and friends) are all filled with sculptures, paintings and bouquets of (dried) flowers. She was the one person in my family, I really could talk to about everything I’m doing with yarn and fabric. No need to say that I’ll miss her.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I needed surgery, and I’m happy to say everything went well. For the time being I have 2 new best friends:

013

We are completely inseparable and they bring me everywhere I want to go (usually the couch!)

Am I bored? No of course not. There is so much you can do sitting.

010

Of course crochet is one of these things.

008

As usually, I started without a plan. Round after round like a rainbow.

009

I got this far, and I think it’s time to do something different now. Maybe small squares? I’m not sure yet.

And of course I can do a lot of reading. The pile of books I already bought but didn’t read yet was quite huge, but is getting smaller almost by the day. This really feels so decadent to read so much, almost like a holiday.

005

Before I go I want to thank all of you for your kind notes and messages on my last post. Obviously I wasn’t too clear and some of you thought my mom was ill, sorry for this misunderstanding. It is always encouraging  to read your comments, but this time in a totally different way, even more. Thank you!!

Groetjes, Dorien

  5. Large cyber {{{{hugs}}}} on hearing of the loss of your Mother in Law - I can understand the void you now feel with no-one to truly understand your crafting passion.
I too have had some surgery this year - all went well, but I have renewed my love of reading since then!! Enjoy your time of recuperation.
    Blessings
