A new blanket made with an old pattern

Hello, how are you?? My life is at the moment a bit boring. Reading a lot, and because my hands are not as sore anymore, a bit of crochet.

This is Fietje. Usually she is upstairs and doesn’t come down as long as Fleur is in the neighborhood. But now, because I can’t walk with her, Fleur has gone to stay in a kennel, and this little hero dares to come into the living room. Here it looks as if she is asking permission to come closer, but don’t let it fool you; it’s more as if she is warning me that she is.

Just perfect! She can be there for hours. So it is quite a miracle that I managed to finish the blanket.

I’ve used the pattern for the Happy Colours Blanket. The only difference is that for the all the circles are made of 1 colour, and the small squares have circles of 1,2 or 3 rounds, and the large squares have circles of 4,5,6 or 7 rounds.

The border is made using a pattern from Edie Eckman’s book “Crochet Borders” (nr. 22)

This last pic shows how big a difference it can make what you do with a pattern. The same yarn and colours have been used, the same pattern, just a different way of using it.

  7. Leuk om die variaties te zien! En gezellig dat de kat toch bij je kwam zitten.

  8. Dorien this is stunning - both blankets are beautiful, but I think I prefer this last one. Your cat is so like ours, who sits on my lap at any opportunity!

  9. It's wonderful how we can take one element and present it many different ways! Another beautiful blanket.
I also love the pictures you've included with your cat keeping you company. One of my favorite things about mine (Shiloh) is that he is ALWAYS there to help make sure my projects lay flat (sleep on them), that my yarn is durable (by dragging them around and tangling them up) and that I choose the right colors (since he likes to take some with him - I guess he doesn't approve of those). So much fun!

  10. Both are lovely blankets but I think I prefer the more recent one. It's not as cluttered and gives it a more "fun" look! Excellent job!

  11. Preciosas las dos mantas. ¡¡Me encantan!! Tienes razón, a veces pequeños cambios marcan una gran diferencia. Un beso.
