Sorry for this incredibly boring title, but I really did feel like using it!
It’s been more than a week since my last post, but don’t worry, everything is absolutely fine up here. I’ve just been working very hard to finish my blanket.
As much as I like to crochet, I don’t like to sew together the squares, and there were just so many of them.
And there is a little surprise for you! 250 Little squares is not enough to make a good sized blanket, so I came up with this idea:
Instead of circles of 3 rounds, I made circles of 7 rounds, and then made them into squares.
There wasn’t a real plan of putting the blanket together, I started by sewing together a few small squares, adding a large one, and making larger blocks this way. This way the blanket ‘grew’ and the colours were used totally at random.
The border is kept very simple: one round of single crochet, one round of double crochet.
All these happy colours are now brightening up our living room; I just have the odd feeling they are asking for some matching pillows.
Groetjes, Dorien

WOW, super!
ReplyDeleteFANSTASTISCH! Wat is dat een prachtige deken geworden. Niet alleen door de kleurtje maar ik vind hem werkelijk schitterend mede door de combinatie van de grote en kleine cirkels. Wat een plaatje. Ik ga hem gelijk pinnen!
ReplyDeleteGroetjes, Monique
Oh my!!!! This is sooooo gorgeous! I love this funky blanket!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is gorgeous. So cheerful. It makes me want to get a crochet hook and try to figure out your tutorial. This seems like it would be a perfect way to use all those crazy mis-matched leftovers of sock-yarn I have.
ReplyDeleteAs someone oblivious to the benefits of different techniques in crochet I have a question; Why do you sew the squares together? And how do you sew them together? I always thought that was one of the benefits of crochet, that you could easily grab to pieces and hook them together quickly - and that if you knew what you were doing, it would also look good. (Which neither of my two newbie attempts did.)
Fab! Love it. x
ReplyDeleteGeweldig! Ik heb gelinkt.... :-)
ReplyDeleteGroeten,
Jeanet
