This was such a fun project to work on. Even though I had to frog it several times. And of course when I was halfway, I ran out of blue yarn, so I had to go to the store. This was not something I did easily because I am really scared when it is very slippery. But, my DH was very nice and brought me, so I could finish and here it is:

There were a few (yes, Dutch) ladies who guessed what it was. But then, these are not so common anymore. I don’t know why, because it would really cheer up the streets.
I know what they are called in Dutch, but browsing the web I found three names for them in English, and every name just one time; coat guards, dress guards and skirt guards. Could you help me and tell me what to call them in English?

So pretty! I'd be worried it would get quite bedraggled after rain and mud though. I call them skirt guards, but I know many call them coat guards to be more gender-neutral since they're just as useful for men cycling in a long coat.
Wat een fantastische jasbeschermer. Ik vraag me alleen af hoe je die bevestigd. Heb je het patroon zelf verzonnen?
That's soooo lovely! Almost no-one uses them here in sweden anymore, but in the 50's almost everyone had them in plastic.

Very pretty, I love your color choices. I've never saw that before in my life.
No worries of rain or mud ruining it here in the desert. The sun would fade those pretty colors kinda quickly though.
Our bike doesn't have a guard on the back tire, otherwise I would make one and consider re-learning how to ride it.
Bedankt voor je bezoek aan mijn blog en je compliment. Wat een leuke blog heb je. Deze jasbeschermers heb ik als kind altijd willen hebben. Toen ik een klein meisje was zag ik een jonge vrouw ermee fietsen. Ze had ook nog zelfgebreide beenwarmers aan. Ik ben dat beeld nooit vergeten.
Ik zie veel herkenning op je blog. Ook de sinterklaas en de pieten heb ik eens gemaakt.

Wat zijn je jasbeschermers mooi geworden. Dit geeft kleur in de straat en ook handig om snel je fiets terug te vinden. Ook al heb ik een patroon op mijn blog staan, zelf heb ik de jasbeschermers tot nu toe nog niet gemaakt. Maar wie weet...
Ths is so pretty ... you make some lovely things. I have never seen such a thing - if it was mine, I would have to bring the bike inside so I could admire it more.

This is just so fantastically brilliant! I want a bike now so that I can have one! Well, actually the bike is probably not a good idea as I am not so good on two wheels - bit wobbly!!!

Zo schattig! Staat heel vrolijk! Maar ik zou inderdaad ook een beetje bang zijn dat het niet bestand is tegen het Hollandse weer... Misschien dat inspuiten met van dat waterbestendige middel helpt tegen het ergste nat en vuil.
Aaahh Dorien, I never guessed, even we had these in Finland also! I don't know if they use anymore, but it was to protect the feet of the child who was sitting behind. Usually quite boring 'nets'. This is really fantastic and so beautiful!
